Jill Bingham – Sherborne
Jill grew up in Northern Ireland, studied in Dublin and taught English, first in Scotland and then for many years at the French school in London.
She was brought up as an Ulster Presbyterian but developed an interest in Eastern religions after travelling in the Far East and India in the seventies and eighties. She had embarked on the Tibetan Buddhist path, which she still considers very precious, until coming across Creation-Centred Spirituality as disseminated by Matthew Fox at St. James’ Piccadilly in 1987 and feeling she had returned to her Christian roots.
Subsequently her interest in Depth Psychology led to her serving on the Council of the Guild for Pastoral Psychology from 2006-8. It has been integrating these different stands that has been the journey of recent years. Stepping stones along the way have been doing “The Heart of the Divine” at Sarum College in Salisbury, connecting with GreenSpirit, the countrywide network that evolved from CCS at St. James’s and, of course, inspiration more recently from LSN.
Now settled in Sherborne in the county of Dorset she loves walking, the natural world and singing. She is involved in her local U3A as a group leader. Life in Sherborne offers an abundance of opportunities for concerts and choral singing, and revolves around the beautiful 12th century Abbey.
